Throughout the 2022-2023 academic year, Alabama Law will be commemoratingThe 50|150 Anniversaries. During this time of remembrance, we will be celebrating the 150th Anniversary of the founding of the School of Law and acknowledging it was just 50 years ago that the first class of African American students graduated from the Law School. We invite you to join us during this upcoming academic year as we reflect on OUR HISTORY and work together to build OUR FUTURE.
Our History
During this anniversary year, we will look back to honor the many persons–dedicated faculty, splendid students, and accomplished alumni–who have made the School of Law what it is today. We will recount historic moments of progress and reflect on the pain caused by our exclusion of Black students and faculty during the first century of our existence. Together, we will mourn the loss of beloved mentors and friends and celebrate our rise to national stature. This is OUR HISTORY.
Our Future
While the first 150 years at Alabama Law have provided a strong foundation, we cannot stay strong by standing still. As we candidly contemplate where we’ve been, we are engaging in a restorative process that strengthens relationships and recommits us to building a school in which all can flourish. Please join us as we continue to ensure that the Law School remains vital and robust for succeeding generations. This isOUR FUTURE.
