Alabama Law is a top U.S public law school. We rank high for Federal Clerkship placements and our grads have some of the lowest debt-loads in the country. With alumni in all 50 states, we'll help you get wherever you want to go.

A Fantastic Student Experience

The Alabama Law student body of approximately 394 JD students is talented, diverse, and academically strong. And the sense of community you will feel the moment you come to the Law School is second to none.

With a building that provides 24 hour access to everything from classroom space to study rooms, from a cafeteria to the library, you have all you could possibly need during the course of your day. And did we mention that we have our own private parking lot for law students?

Faculty Who Take Their Relationships with Students Seriously

Our Law School environment is the perfect size to provide close working relationships between faculty and students. With a low student-to-faculty ratio of 7 to 1, personal attention from your instructor is the rule—not the exception.

Our faculty members recognize that their most important role is shaping the next generation of leaders, and they make time to do so. In fact, several of our faculty members have received the University’s highest award for teaching. Alabama Law faculty are also highly regarded and frequently published experts on a wide variety of topics.

Superior Outcomes

The careers our graduates pursue are as varied as the students themselves. Our students find that Alabama Law opens doors and prepares them to make meaningful contributions in their profession immediately after graduation and throughout their careers.

But don’t just take our word for it. See for yourself:

  • 95.1% of our Class of 2023 were employed or pursuing advanced degrees within 10 months of graduation.
  • Alabama Law regularly ranks among the top 10 nationally for federal clerkship placements.
  • Our 2024 Ultimate Bar Passage Rate, which considers graduates who sat for a bar examination within two years of their date of graduation, was 94.5%.

Wide-Ranging Curriculum

Our elective offerings each year show that our curriculum can be deep and broad.  With certificate programs in areas such as Public Interest, Governmental Affairs and Comparative and International Law, as well as dual degree programs, students can pursue exactly the classes they need to prepare for their desired careers.

Opportunities like our clinics, trial advocacy and moot court teams, and law journals give students more practical experiences while still earning course credit.

A Fun Community

Students talking, shot from above.

The Law School sits on the eastern edge of The University of Alabama’s campus, separated but yet fully a part of the larger University.  And though it contributes only a small number to the nearly 40,000 students, law students can enjoy participation in the wide-ranging University activities and organizations.

Tuscaloosa is the perfect city to house Alabama Law.  It is not uncommon to see Tuscaloosa in lists of best university communities and best places to live. While Tuscaloosa is a city on the move, it is also a community that strives to maintain its authenticity and charm. With great houses and apartments, locally-owned-and-operated businesses, delicious restaurants, and a wide variety of entertainment, it’s no surprise when visitors tell us they’ve fallen in love with T-Town.
