Criminal Defense Clinic
LAW 894 | 2-4 Hours | Special Topics Course
Students provide free legal representation to low-income community members and University of Alabama students charged with criminal offenses, primarily misdemeanors, in Tuscaloosa and nearby counties. First time clinic participants must take both the 4-hour casework section and the 2-hour class section. Returning students can only take the 4-hour casework section. This course is classified as experiential. Students are only allowed to enroll in this course with approval from the Clinic Director. This course includes discussion about the development of a professional identity. This course includes material on bias, cross-cultural competency, and racism.
