Poverty Law
LAW 769 | 2-3 Hours
This course is about human suffering and focuses on the various ways in which people suffer in Alabama and in America because of poverty. The course is not an intellectual abstraction of poverty, but about what lawyers can do through the American legal system to effectively address the everyday needs of people living in poverty. Although this course is about what lawyers can do, it is not a skills course or clinical course. Instead, this course is designed to help future lawyers prepare to serve people living in poverty through litigation, public service, and leadership.
