Multifamily Real Estate Development

This course explores the legal and regulatory framework governing the development, financing, and operation of multifamily real estate projects, including government assisted affordable projects. Topics include real estate financing considerations, land use law, construction and development related agreements, environmental considerations, federal income tax considerations, affordable housing regulations, and entity structure. Through a case study, lecture, discussions, and practical exercises, students will develop a nuanced understanding of the myriad legal issues that arise in multifamily real estate projects and how attorneys navigate these complexities.
