Constitutional Law

LAW 609 | 4 Hours

The problem of interpretation and enforcement of the written Constitution of the United States and the nature of judicial review are analyzed in their historical and modern contexts. The three branches of government and their interrelationships are considered, together with the nature of the federal system. The nature, sources, interpretations, and scope of the federal powers are considered, with special attention given to the commerce power. The Bill of Rights and the 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments to the U.S. Constitution are considered. Absent special circumstances, this course is open only to first year students.
