Michael received his B.A. (History) in 2001, as well as his M.Ed. (Higher Education Administration) in 2004 from Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, Georgia. He served 18 years in the Culverhouse College of Business at the University of Alabama as an academic advisor and was the recipient of the 2021 John C. Bickley award for innovation in support of the Culverhouse academic unit. Mr. Avant joined the University of Alabama School of Law in the summer of 2023 as the college registrar and coordinates School of Law processes impacting catalog maintenance, course scheduling/registration, student records, state bar examination requests, and degree audits.
