Glory McLaughlin

Ms. McLaughlin is the Assistant Dean for Public Interest Law.  She oversees the operations of the Public Interest Institute, directs student public interest activities such as service awards and pro bono opportunities, and provides counseling on careers in public interest law.  Ms. McLaughlin earned her B.A., magna cum laude, in English and History from Xavier University, her M.A. in English from the University of Cincinnati, and her J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of Alabama.  While at Alabama, Ms. McLaughlin was an articles editor for the Alabama Law Review, served on the executive board of the Public Interest Institute, competed on the National Moot Court Team, and was named to the Order of the Coif. 

After law school she clerked for the Honorable Keith Watkins in the Middle District of Alabama, then worked as a staff attorney and volunteer coordinator for Legal Services Alabama, where she specialized in representing victims of domestic violence in family law proceedings.  Prior to returning to the Law School to serve in her current capacity, Ms. McLaughlin was with the Birmingham firm of Redden, Mills, Clark & Shaw, where she practiced in the areas of family law, criminal defense, and alternative dispute resolution. She currently serves on the board of the ACLU of Alabama and is a member of the National Advisory Committee for Equal Justice Works, based in Washington, D.C.
